Wire made of stainless steel 316l has a maximum carbon content of 0.03 and can be used in applications that cannot be annealed after welding and require high corrosion resistance.
Corrosion resistance
The corrosion resistance of 316 stainless steel shaped wire is better than that of 304 stainless steel shaped wire, and it is also resistant to corrosion from the ocean and corrosive industrial environments.
Heat resistance
In intermittent use below 1600 degrees and continuous use below 1700 degrees, 316 stainless steel shaped wire has good oxidation resistance. 316 stainless steel shaped wire cannot be continuously used within the temperature range of 800-1575 degrees, but it has good heat resistance when used outside this temperature range. In the above temperature range, 316l stainless steel shaped wire has better resistance to carbide precipitation than 316 stainless steel shaped wire.
heat treatment
316 stainless steel shaped wire cannot be hardened by overheating. The annealing process occurs at temperatures between 1850 and 2050 degrees.
welding
In order to weld 316 stainless steel shaped wire, all standard welding methods can be used. When welding, 316cb, 316l or 309cb stainless steel shaped wire filler rods or welding rods can be used based on the application. The welded section of 316 stainless steel shaped wire steel needs to be annealed after welding to attain the best corrosion resistance. If 316l stainless steel shaped wire is used, post-weld annealing is not needed.
